Journal Entry, Week 4:

Where to start? What to say? My emotions towards Someone Like you, are ecstatic. I absolutely loved the book, everything about it was utterly brilliant! My love towards this book grow every single second I read it. The ending was alright.. I loved how they left the most exciting part till last and they really emphasised the ending to make it enjoyable and easy to understand. The disappointing part was when the Author didn’t tell or explain to us what happens to the baby after it was born and what happens to it, it kind of just let us hanging. But I didn’t hate the ending, I loved it more than anything. The happiness coming from Scarlett made me smile, but it also made me feel bad for her, when the baby was being delivered, and she didn’t have her mum by her side. I want to read more Sarah Dessen books, they make me happy and smile, I encourage everyone to read them, it was amazing!

Journal Entry, Week 3

This week has been utterly brilliant! My love for this book, grows word by word. I have to admit, the amount of funny and interesting scenes that went on was awesome! This book gives me mixed emotions! The Author Sarah Dessen, it’s truly fabulous. Sarah, chose her words very carefully, as she wanted to get a certain message across to the audience. Sarah, has managed to put a image in the readers head, which makes you understand the book heaps more! I can’t believe I said this book started out boring, because if any thing it’s o-v-e-r exciting! I’m so excited and pumped to find out what she does with the baby, what she names it and the sex. Personally and hopefully, I think she will keep the baby, as the Author has seemed to hint to you that she may keep it. As soon as I get home tonight, I’m going to start reading as there is always things going on and I can’t wait to find out what interesting thing happens next. We are now 3/4 of our way through the book, but honestly I wish it was an on going book and it never ended. I couldn’t put the book down, I had to wrestle with myself, to put it down, as I tried to convince myself it was okay to read past the page we were mean’t to read up to.

Connecter, Week 3

– Teenagers these days, are getting pregnant younger and younger, and this is what happens to Scarlett.

– Many parents, who find out there daughter is skipping school and wagging, ground them, just as Halley’s parents did.

– Everyone argues with there parents, as Halley did.

– Many Grandma’s get moved into a nursing home, due to illness, as Halley’s Grandma did.

Journal Entry, Week 2

This week we read another 80 pages, which brought us up to page 150. I think I'm in love with this book. When I read the words, scenes and images become alive in my head, which helps me understand the book heaps more. I love the characters, in the book especially Halley, because she's courageous and respectful. I couldn't put the book down, but I knew I had to stop. The book has gone from extremely boring to amazingly interesting. I can't wait to  continue reading Someone Like You, as I can't wait to find out if Scarlett keeps the baby, or puts him/her up for adoption.

Discussion Director, week 2!

– Do you think, Halley waging school, to help Scarlett was a good idea, why?

– If you were Scarlett, would you keep the baby?

– Do you think Halley’s mum is being to strict on her?

– Do you think Scarlett should get rid of the baby, or keep it, why?

– What qualities of Halley’s do you like?

– If you were Scarlett’s mum, what would you say to her once you found and she was pregnant and how would you react?

Diary entry – Week 1

Someone like you, started off quite confusing and boring for me. I kept reading, although I found it quite boring. The further I read, the more engaged and interested I was. I felt bad for Scarlett, as the only boy who had ever told her, he loved her, passed away. I didn’t want to put the book down, as it really drew I’m my attention. I’m eager to find out, what happens next in the book. Someone Like you, is so engaging and easy to read, as they use simple words, which are easy to understand. At the start, I didn’t want to continue reading, but now I’m extremely enthusiastic about reading the next quarter of the book.
